For data subscribers

Verified scholarships, inside your product.

The Catalog API serves every active scholarship in our catalog as structured JSON: who can apply, how much, when it's due, and when we last checked. You build the experience; we keep the data right.

What is a scholarship API?

A scholarship API gives your product a live, structured catalog of scholarships instead of a list you maintain by hand. TuitionCovered's Catalog API serves every active scholarship as JSON, with eligibility you can filter on, award amounts, deadlines with their precision, and an apply link that credits your company.

One catalog, many products

Scholarship search
A full finder on your site, filtered by level, state, GPA and more, without building a catalog.
Matching and recommendations
Use the eligibility codes to show students only what they can apply for.
Deadline reminders
Deadlines come with their precision, so you never remind someone about a date the provider didn't give.
Content and guides
Keep scholarship round-ups and state guides current from the same records.
Advising tools
Give counselors a verified list to work from, with the provider's own wording for every criterion.
Research and reporting
Understand the scholarship landscape by state, level or award type. Bulk exports are by agreement.

Fields you can filter, rank and show

Every field is always present, null when the provider doesn't say. We add fields over time and never rename or remove one without a new version.

FieldWhat it holds
id, title, provider, summaryWhat it is and who funds it. id is a stable slug
official_url, apply_urlThe provider's own page, and a tracked link to apply that credits your company
awardamount, amount_max, amount_type (fixed, range, varies, full_tuition), number_of_awards, renewable
datesopens_on, deadline, deadline_precision (day, day_no_year, month), recurring
eligibilitycriteria in the provider's words, plus education_levels, degree_types, citizenship, states, min_gpa, need_based, requires_fafsa, first_generation
no_essaytrue when no essay is asked for
qualitytier, certified_at, last_verified_at, completeness_score (0–1)
updated_atWhen the record or your copy of it last changed. Pairs with updated_since
contentCopy for your site in your voice: meta_title, meta_description, intro, who_its_for, canonical_url, og, json_ld. null until you publish Brand & voice

Choose the bar your product needs

Only active records are served. Each one says which tier it's in, so you can show everything or only the records that clear the higher bar.

Listed
Passed our acceptance checks against the provider's own page. Every record served today is listed.
Certified (coming)
Listed, plus checks on the provider and on freshness. No record is certified yet. When they are, certified_at says when, and ?tier=certified returns only those.

Keys, limits and reports in your portal

Your team signs in to the partner portal to create keys and see how they're used. Limits are set per contract, so a pilot and a national launch run on the same API.

  • Create and revoke keys in the portal; we only store a hash
  • Per-minute and daily limits set for your contract
  • Limits and what's left in the headers of every response
  • Usage by day and route, and apply clicks by scholarship
  • Owners and admins manage keys; invite your whole team

Data API FAQ

How much does it cost?

It depends on your traffic and how you'll use the data. Contracts are monthly or annual and billed by invoice. Tell us about your product and we'll quote.

Can we try it first?

Yes. New data partners start on a pilot with real keys at low limits, so you can build against live data before signing.

Can we keep a copy of the data?

Your contract's data licence says what you can store and for how long. Pilot data can't be kept after the pilot.

How do we keep our copy current?

Store updated_at from each record and ask for ?updated_since= on your next run. You'll get only what changed.

What happens when a scholarship closes or disappears?

Only active records are served. If a record stops being active, fetching it by id returns 404; drop it from your copy.

Do you include awards from other scholarship platforms?

No. Awards that need an account on another scholarship site to apply are left out. We list scholarships from the funders' own pages.

We'll show you records for your audience and set up a pilot if it's a fit.
