For counseling and advising

Put verified scholarships next to your advice.

Counselors spend hours finding outside scholarships and checking they're real. Give them, and their students, a verified list inside the tools they already use.

How can counselors find verified outside scholarships for each student?

Build matching into your advising platform: sync TuitionCovered's catalog, match each student on state, education level, GPA and first-generation status, and show the funder's own criteria and official link. Counselors get a shortlist they can trust instead of a search-engine trawl.

What you can build

Shortlists per student

Match on level, state, GPA and first-generation status, and let counselors add to a student's plan.

Caseload deadlines

Show upcoming deadlines across a counselor's students, with the precision the funder gave.

Local and national together

State-restricted awards next to national ones, so students see what's actually close to home.

How it works

A starting point for matching, run over your synced copy of the catalog.

  1. 1

    Sync

    Keep a copy of the catalog in your platform, refreshed daily.

  2. 2

    Map profiles

    Map your student fields to our education levels and states.

  3. 3

    Match

    Run each student against the catalog, like the snippet below.

  4. 4

    Act

    Counselors review, add to plans and track deadlines.

Matching a student
// Does a scholarship fit this student? Run it over your synced copy.
// null means the funder didn't say: keep the award and show its criteria.
function fits(s, student, today) {
  const e = s.eligibility;
  if (e.states && !e.states.includes(student.state)) return false;
  if (e.education_levels && !e.education_levels.includes(student.level)) return false;
  if (e.min_gpa != null && student.gpa != null && student.gpa < e.min_gpa) return false;
  if (e.first_generation && !student.firstGeneration) return false;
  if (s.dates.deadline && s.dates.deadline < today) return false;
  return true;
}

Fields you'll use

Every field is always present in the record, null when the funder doesn't say.

FieldWhat it's for
eligibility.education_levelsHS_9 to HS_12, UG_1 to UG_5_PLUS, GRADUATE
eligibility.statesUSPS codes; null when the funder states no restriction
eligibility.min_gpaOn a 4.0 scale
eligibility.first_generation, need_based, requires_fafsaThe flags counselors check first
eligibility.criteriaThe full requirements, in the funder's words
official_urlFor counselors to verify

Why TuitionCovered

  • Every award links to the funder's official page
  • Criteria in the funder's own words: no paraphrase to argue with
  • Awards needing another scholarship site's account are left out
  • Usage and apply clicks reported in your portal

Advising platforms: common questions

Does the API match students for us?

The API serves the whole active catalog, with incremental sync. Keep a copy in your own database and filter it there by state, level, GPA or anything else in the record.

Are these scholarships verified?

Every record is built from the funder's own page and links to it, and says when it was last confirmed. Awards that need an account on another scholarship site are left out.

Can counselors see why a student matches?

Yes: show eligibility.criteria, the funder's own requirements, next to the match.

How is it priced?

It depends on your traffic and how you'll use the data. Tell us what you're building and roughly how many students you expect, and we'll quote. You start on a pilot with real keys before you sign.
